RELEX Scientific and Technical Center, a Skolkovo Foundation IT cluster resident, had its application approved by the Skolkovo Foundation Grant Committee, and is to receive a grant of 32 million roubles. The funds will be used to develop the next-generation database management system “Linter AT”. The project co-investors granting another 32 million roubles are a Voronezh construction and financial company, and RELEX Research and Production Enterprise.
RELEX Scientific and Technical Center is developing a DBMS with broad adaptation capabilities to be used under various specific conditions. «The problem of using existing general-purpose DBMSs for solving highly specific tasks is that, as a rule, due to their inherited architecture such systems are not always easily customized to the client’s requirements. The solution is to create a special-purpose DBMS whose key advantage would be the ability to adapt, configure and customize it for a particular application. This idea was repeatedly mentioned by world’s renowned experts in the field of database management systems», — Igor Boychenko, the founder and General Manager of RELEX Scientific and Technical Center, told Sk.ru.
At the business level, the use of such a system will help to effectively solve several tasks: first, reducing the resource consumption (energy use, communication channels etc.); next, economizing on the technical infrastructure by adapting to less expensive hardware; and, finally, getting efficient process automation going.
