The RELEX Board of Directors has summed up the company's activities in 2009. The past year was yet another successful year for the company that has been demonstrating steady annual growth since 1990.
RELEX has demonstrated growth practically in all respects. The sales of the company's flagship product, DBMS Linter, have increased by 14%, and 19 companies have been added to the list of our corporate customers. Our team has implemented over 20 software development projects. Speaking of our competencies, we have acquired profound experience in Web oriented system development, migration of applications, and corporate information system development.
Summing up our work in the past year, Igor Boychenko, the General Manager of RELEX, stated: «From year to year, RELEX has been steadily strengthening its position as the leading Russian DBMS vendor. In 2009, we have demonstrated a stable increase of the sales volume, a successful development of relationships with our existing customers, and a significant extension of the partner and client base. Even despite the global recession and low business activity, RELEX has not only retained, but also considerably extended its project portfolio. Generally, the activities of RELEX Group were 109% even compared with the year 2008 that was relatively successful for us. I think that in spite of the current economic downturn, RELEX has great prospects».
As before, the key activities of RELEX Group are data warehousing and processing technologies, development of the Russian DBMS Linter, packaged and custom solutions in the corporate sector, delivery of our own packaged products, and software outsourcing services.
The analysis of the 2009 results has shown a slight redistribution of our project portfolio between the market segments: the percentage of work performed for the Russian Ministry of Defense has slightly decreased, while the number of commercial customers has considerably increased.
Vitaly Maximov, Marketing Director of RELEX Group, noted that the most optimism is caused not by positive percentages during the crisis year, but by the positive tendencies emerging on the market: «Growth itself is a good thing – it is great to acknowledge that we have managed well during the crisis year. However, besides our company's own growth, there are positive tendencies on the Russian IT market that may change it significantly in the future. Only some years ago, DBMS Linter was mainly used by defense organizations, industrial control system vendors and developers requiring high data security, but in 2009, major packaged software vendors started to offer us porting their applications to Linter. It is yet too early to report of our success or announce new products, but now we are carrying on negotiations and integration work with several Russian developers of packaged solutions. And, if the equipment does not fail, purely Russian developments based on our native certified DBMS will appear on the market soon».
In the long run, RELEX Group plans to create high-end solutions in the field of data warehousing and processing that satisfy the needs of corporate clients as well as independent developers of packaged software. In the modern-day software complex architecture paradigm, state-of-the-art database technologies should be the highest priority in information system development and research.
